Award Description
Inclusive excellence connects OSU’s success to our ability to incorporate and value the many diverse perspectives, viewpoints and backgrounds of our community members. As a land grant institution, advancing inclusive excellence is central to our mission to improve access and opportunity for all.
The Inclusive Excellence Advocate Award is presented to a member of the university community who advances inclusive excellence at OSU through consistent and sustained efforts. The recipient is awarded a $1,000 honorarium.
Nominees are retained in a consideration pool for three years, beginning with their initial year of nomination.
Eligibility
Nominees must meet the following eligibility criteria:

Current employee of Oregon State University, OSU Foundation & Alumni Association, or INTO OSU.
Award Considerations
- Cumulative achievement: Direct and significant impact advancing inclusive excellence at Oregon State University over a sustained period of time.
- Scope and impact: Contributions and achievements significantly advancing inclusive excellence at OSU in a breadth of areas.

Advances University Priorities: Demonstrated achievements and contributions that advance Prosperity Widely Shared: The Oregon State Plan and the Diversity Action Plan.
Examples of Contributions
Nominations describing efforts across all functions of the university are encouraged. Some examples may include:
- Creating pathways for students and employees to OSU from communities across Oregon, the nation and world.
- Developing innovative curriculum and programs to advance access and success for all learners.
- Engaging in creative and innovative research and innovation activities that enhance access and success for individuals and communities.
- Developing experiential or immersive learning that prepares students for excellence in their lives and careers.
- Advising students or student organizations to create pathways for access and success.
- Engaging with external communities to collaboratively arrive at novel solutions improving access to and success in education.
Nomination Process
The nominator shall upload all of the following items through the nomination form:

A statement from the nominator not exceeding two single-sided pages using 12pt font and 1” margins summarizing why the nominee should be selected for the Outstanding Diversity Advocate Award. Please address the award criteria in the statement.

Two letters of support from community members internal to OSU (e.g., students, faculty, staff, volunteers), or external to OSU (e.g., community organizations, professional organizations). Please be certain the letters of support address the award criteria.

The nominee’s curriculum vitae OR a professional resume highlighting the above criteria.
Selection Process
Nominations will be reviewed and selected by the Inclusive Excellence Advocate Award Committee. Committee recommendations will be made based on nomination information submitted.
Deadline
Nominations for the 2025 award are due May 11. Recipients will be notified in late May.
