We Have Work To Do
We Have Work To Do is a university-wide campaign led by the Office of Institutional Diversity since the 2018-19 academic year. The campaign recognizes the strides we have made to advance diversity as a university community while acknowledging that there is much to be done —creative, continuous, collaborative efforts are necessary to transform Oregon State into a university motivated by diversity, inclusion and social justice. We Have Work To Do invites all Oregon State community members to engage in a range of activities and programs to explore five key campaign themes and to find their roles as essential contributors to this shared endeavor.
Upcoming programming for the 2020-21 academic year:
Got Work To Do Podcast: In collaboration with Orange Media Network, we launched season two of the Got Work to Do Podcast. The first season featured members of the Oregon State University community whose work connected to the five themes of the We Have Work to Do Campaign. The second season continues those conversations, while also connecting the work of the OSU community to the social justice issues our world faces today. Look for a new episode every month.
Community Dialogues: In collaboration with Community Engagement and Leadership and University Housing & Dining Services, the Community Dialogues is a monthly dialogue series seeking to cultivate connection and deep learning through exploration of critical and contentious issues. This series focuses on providing space for participants to practice the skills of dialogue and deliberation.
The next dialogue—“How does real change come from protests?”—will be Nov. 24, 2020, 4-5:30 pm. Registration is required.
MLK Celebration Week: The 39th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration will take place the week of January 18, 2021. This celebration is the longest running annual event at Oregon State University focused on social justice and transformative change. This year’s celebration will take place online and in-person.
Webinar Series: In collaboration with the Alumni Association, the We Have Work to Do Webinar Series will feature a mix of alumni, faculty/staff and student panelists speaking to different social justice topics that have a connection to the university. Fresh topics are coming in winter and spring terms.
DEI Unconference: The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Unconference will create a space for peer to peer collaboration and ideation among faculty, staff and students who are engaged in DEI work at OSU.The virtual DEI Unconference is planned for winter term. Look for
