Board of Visitors

The purpose of the Oregon State University Board of Visitors (BOV) is to assist the President and members of the OSU Senior Leadership Team to carry out the University’s mission in ways that enhance access, retention and opportunity for traditionally-underrepresented and under-served students, faculty and staff.  Recognizing our shared responsibilities with and to the public, this committee serves to inform our decisions, actions, and presence in the community in mutually-beneficial ways.

Role and Scope

The role of the Board of Visitors is to advise the President and her Cabinet through a focus on access and retention of students, faculty and staff—as well as advance and promote opportunities for greater community engagement and fundraising.

Goals and Objectives

  • Obtain and analyze information that will clarify the challenges facing Oregon State University particularly as it pertains to the recruitment and retention of underrepresented students, faculty and staff.
  • Recommend to the president of the university strategies for attracting and retaining students, faculty and staff from underrepresented communities.
  • Serve as a liaison between the university and communities of differences
  • Advance alumni relations and fundraising opportunities on behalf of diversity, equity and inclusion for OSU.
